1. An adjustable bed mattress is designed to be used with an electric adjustable bed.

2. There are 5 basic types of mattress, each has different features depending on the sleep problems you might have, so it is important to find the type of mattress most comfortable for you.

• The Coil Spring Mattress still is the most popular, so if there are no sleep or health problems then this may be fine for most people. Great if you want best value for money, but you may get pressure points from the coil springs. It is possible to have the coil spring mattress covered with memory foam or latex which increases the cost as well as the comfort. Popular for their firmness.

• Memory Foam Mattress which is a 100% synthetic product. Great if there are back problems as memory foam gets softer as the body warms it, and shapes itself to the curve of the backbone, so there are no pressure points. The best known name is Tempur-pedic, but there are other memory foam mattresses. Two things to note, the first is the foam density , with three to four pounds being the average with five pound density meaning it will last longer. Just note that it takes time to get used to a memory foam mattress, and to begin with it may smell odd.   Foam mattresses made in the USA and tempur-pedic do not use toxic chemicals and there is no risk of an allergic response.
• Latex Foam Mattress is 100% natural latex from the sap of a rubber tree, so is a natural product, acts like memory foam, and is hypo allergenic. Mould, mildew, bacteria don't survive, and resistance to bed mites. It doesn't smell, and latex mattresses breathe, so cool in the summer, warm in the winter. Environmentally latex is the best, it's a natural product, no toxic chemicals, and easy to dispose of after a 30 year lifespan.

• Blended Latex Mattress  which is a combination of around 60% synthetic and 40% natural latex. There are two different processes, the Talalay, and the Dunlop, and this is what most customers purchase. It is best to choose a manufacturer from the USA for assured quality

• Air Bed Mattress is different because you can adjust the firmness of the mattress, and you can adjust the position of the adjustable bed frame, using an electric pump with a remote control, which has an automatic cut off when the bed reaches its preset position. There is therefore no danger of the mattress blowing up . Top of the range models also have a memory foam layer and a pillow top.   They do take time to get used to, and  feel somewhat strange to begin with. Apart from the comfort element, they are very good for the circulation as they reduce pressure points to the body. There are air bed mattresses that use a self adjusting technology,  known as the SAT mattress. These mattresses have no pump just an intake and release valve so the mattress self adjusts to the desired pressure, so they are silent. You could buy a Nikken mattress. These are mattresses specifically designed  designed so that two sleepers can adjust the air pressure on their side of the bed only to get the right level of support for themselves as opposed to each coming to a compromise. 
  Known as the Dual adjustable air beds it means that there is an individual remote control for each sleeper to ensure that there side of the mattress is right for them. They have a very quiet pump, so no-one gets woken up.

Obviously there are accessories you will need to buy, such as sheets, pillows to complete your comfort. You will also find some mattresses have a massage facility, so you don't just go to bed at night.
